Pre and Post Treatment Instructions for Dermal Fillers (Restylane®)
Instructions prior and after to your appointment.

Pre/post-treatment Dermal Filler Instructions
It is best to plan your injections at least 2 weeks before any big event.

Avoid dental appointments (including teeth cleaning), 2 weeks before and after your appointment.

If you become ill and require antibiotics, notify the clinic to reschedule your appointment.

Stop taking blood thinners like Aspirin, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin, etc. starting 2 weeks before your appointment unless prescribed.

Stop taking Vitamin E or fish oil, ginseng and green tea, 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or any “anti-aging” products 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Avoid facials, waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.

Avoid alcohol for 3 days prior to appointment.
Day of Dermal Filler Treatment

Arrive with your face clean and freshly washed, bare face.

Topical numbing cream will be applied to reduce the discomfort of the injections.

After injection of the dermal filler, it is very important that you do not touch the treated areas to avoid infection.

Swelling and bruising and tenderness are considered normal after treatment.

You may gently apply ice or gel pack to the treated area, being careful not to press too hard on the treated area.

Keep the skin clean where injected. Do not apply make-up for the remainder of the day.

Avoid excessive heat and vigorous exercise for the first 24hrs after the procedure.

When you wash your face, try to avoid pressing firmly over the area(s) treated for the next few days until the filler has settled.

Sleep with your head slightly elevated above your heart to help reduce swelling.
Over the Next Week, Following Dermal Filler Treatment

Redness and swelling will continue to decrease, bruising will fade in 5-14 days.
